Since its inception two thousand years ago, Katadesis has evolved into a fellowship bound by the vow to safeguard and maintain humanity’s knowledge. At its core lies the Library of Isotheos. Reconstructed in the late 1500s and again in the 1800s, the vast collection was divided into the fields of economics, world history, the arts, engineering, and the sciences. The library remains hidden from the world.

Nestled beneath the Katadesis buildings, numerous cellars and vaults house countless additional books, covering an unimaginable range of subjects. Alongside works by Da Vinci, Newton, and Archimedes are those of lesser-known scholars such as Maria Beasley, Maria Merian, and Mary Anning, whose contributions are no less significant. With the renowned libraries of Alexandria and Sofia long gone, the responsibility of preserving five thousand years of knowledge now rests with Katadesis.
