Evie Miller
The journey from the Hooverville slums to the opulent penthouses of 5th Avenue is long, and though Evie Miller’s beauty reveals no trace of it, each step is deeply etched within her. In 1931, women had few opportunities to succeed, but ambition could help overcome the barriers. And Evie is a quick learner.

Lighting her cigarette, she let a wisp of smoke escape from her glossed lips. “When a man looks at you, he sees an equal. When he looks at me, he sees a pretty face. Being underestimated can be an advantage. No one notices the furniture, and men love to talk.”
